Thierry B. is a painter of abstracts exploring joyous states of being. While foremost a colourist, there is the love of flow and gesture of the passionate artist.

“Thierry B and his paintings exude joy expressed in two distinct ways – in contemplative landscapes of a lyrical abstraction exploring hints of reality as metaphors for verities beyond the merely visual, and what he calls “action paintings” such as Party On in this exhibition. Inspired by meditation, his paintings explore state of mind and being which are accessible to all, but are crowded out by the frenzy of contemporary existence. His landscapes are contemplative visions wrapped in a stillness of tranquility. By contrast, the action paintings, as their name implies, are full of energy, joyously extroverted outpourings of happiness, as different fruits of the same spirit. He uses those experiences and occasions shared in common, of parties and farewells, as a means of striking simplicity to express the complex. In Party On, forms and colours are playful and celebratory as they recall balloons and streamers. Gaiety and movements are translated into brilliant colours and intricate compositions as all is swept along in the pulsating rhythm of life. The sense of freedom expressed through the technique is similarly engaging as swirls and dribbles of paint catch you up in their pictorialisation of joie de vivre. Titles, like Soulsearch and Sweet Surrender, are but guides to variations on the theme.”
