Peter Roach was born in Sydney, Australia in 1954.

He sold his first painting when he was 12 and several years later he topped the Higher School Certificate in Art. He later trained at the National art School and then completed a Fine Arts Honours degree at Sydney University.

Peter taught art at East Sydney and was art reviewer for Vogue Magazine, arts writer for the National Times and later arts editor for the Time on Sunday and The Sun-Herald. He also wrote A Young Persons Guide to Art in Australia for the Australian National Gallery, and was public relations consultant for Sotheby’s, organising the media launch of its Australian operation.

After a long break from the studio, Peter has picked up his brushes in earnest, working on a steady stream of local and overseas commissions.
